How to Delete Devices in Senturo
Remove Devices from Your Fleet Individually, in Bulk, or via CSV Import
Overview
Senturo provides three methods for removing devices from your fleet, allowing you to choose the approach that best fits the scale of the action you need to perform: deleting a single device from its details page, deleting multiple devices in bulk from the Devices list using the Mass Actions toolbar, or deleting devices at scale by uploading a CSV file through Data Import. Note that deletion is permanent — once a device is removed, its record, location history, screenshots, and associated data are no longer accessible from your Senturo dashboard.
Method 1: Delete a Single Device from the Device Details Page
Use this method when you need to remove one specific device and want to review its details before deletion.
- Open the Devices Page
- From the Senturo dashboard, navigate to Devices in the left navigation menu.
- Locate the Device
- Use the search bar, filters, or sort options to find the device you want to delete.
- Click on the device row to open its Device Details page.
- Delete the Device
- On the Device Details page, locate the Delete Device button at the bottom left of the page.
- Click on Delete Device.
- Confirm the action in the dialog that appears.
- Verify Removal
- Return to the Devices page and confirm that the device no longer appears in the list.
Method 2: Delete Multiple Devices Using the Mass Actions Toolbar
Use this method when you need to remove several devices at once and can identify them from the Devices list.
- Navigate to the Devices Page
- From the Senturo dashboard, navigate to Devices.
- Select the Devices to Delete
- Use filters, groups, or tags to narrow the list to the devices you want to remove.
- Click on the checkbox next to each device you wish to delete.
- To select every device currently displayed, click on the checkbox in the table header row.
- Open the Mass Actions Toolbar
- Once one or more devices are selected, the Mass Actions toolbar appears at the top of the page, displaying the number of devices selected.
- Click on Delete in the Mass Actions toolbar to open the Delete dropdown.
- Select Delete Devices
- From the dropdown, click on Delete devices.
- The dropdown also includes options to delete specific data types only (Delete tracking data, Delete location data, Delete network data, Delete screenshots) if you want to clear device data without removing the device itself.
- Confirm the Deletion
- In the confirmation dialog that appears, confirm the action.
- Senturo processes the deletion and removes the selected devices from your fleet.
- Verify Removal
- Refresh the Devices page and confirm that the deleted devices no longer appear in the list.
Method 3: Delete Devices in Bulk via CSV Import
Use this method when you need to remove a large number of devices and have their serial numbers available — for example, when decommissioning an entire batch of retired hardware.
- Navigate to Data Import
- From the Senturo dashboard, navigate to Account Settings at the bottom left of the page.
- Click on Data Import.
- Select the Import Type
- On the Data Import page, locate the Import Type dropdown.
- Select Delete Devices from the available options.
- Download the CSV Template
- Click on Download Template to download the CSV file provided by Senturo.
- Open the downloaded template in a spreadsheet application such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Add Device Serial Numbers
- Enter the serial number of each device you want to delete in the appropriate column, one device per row.
- Double-check that each serial number matches the device record in Senturo to avoid failed entries.
- Save the file in
.csvformat.
- Upload the Completed CSV
- Return to the Data Import page in Senturo.
- Drag and drop the completed CSV file into the upload area, or click on the upload button to browse for the file.
- Click on Upload to begin processing.
- Review the Import Results
- Senturo processes the file and removes the listed devices from your fleet.
- Review any error messages and verify that all listed devices have been successfully deleted from the Devices page.
Troubleshooting
Delete Option Not Available
Symptoms:
- The Delete option does not appear in the Mass Actions toolbar.
- The Delete devices option is missing or greyed out in the Delete dropdown.
- The Delete Device button is missing or greyed out on the Device Details page.
Possible Causes:
- Your user role does not include device deletion permissions.
- No devices are currently selected on the Devices page (the Mass Actions toolbar only appears once at least one device is selected).
Solutions:
- Confirm your role with your account Owner or Group Admin.
- Ensure at least one device is selected via checkbox before checking the Mass Actions toolbar.
CSV Upload Fails or Returns Errors
Symptoms:
- The CSV upload fails to process.
- Specific rows in the import return errors and the corresponding devices are not deleted.
Possible Causes:
- The CSV file was not saved in
.csvformat. - The template structure was modified (columns renamed or removed).
- Serial numbers in the CSV do not match any enrolled device in Senturo.
- Serial numbers contain leading or trailing whitespace.
Solutions:
- Re-download the CSV template from the Data Import page and start from a fresh copy.
- Verify each serial number exactly matches the value shown on the device's details page in Senturo.
- Remove any extra spaces, hidden characters, or special formatting from the cells.
- Save the file in
.csvformat before uploading.
Device Reappears After Deletion
Symptoms:
- A deleted device appears in the Devices list again shortly after removal.
Possible Causes:
- The device is still active in a connected MDM (Jamf Pro, Microsoft Intune, Google Admin Console, or Cisco Meraki) and was re-imported during the next integration sync.
Solutions:
- Remove or unassign the device in the source MDM platform before deleting it from Senturo.
- Alternatively, review the integration's sync settings in Integrations to control how devices are imported.
Conclusion
Senturo offers three flexible methods for deleting devices: from the Device Details page for single removals, via the Mass Actions toolbar for selective bulk deletions, and through CSV import for large-scale removals. Choosing the right method for your situation helps keep your fleet records accurate and your Senturo dashboard focused on the devices you actively manage.
FAQs
Q: Can I recover a device after deleting it from Senturo? A: No. Once a device is deleted, its record, location history, screenshots, and associated data are permanently removed. If you may need the device's data later, export or document it before deletion.
Q: Does deleting a device in Senturo uninstall the agent from the device itself? A: No. Deleting a device only removes it from your Senturo dashboard. The Senturo agent or extension remains installed on the device and must be removed separately. See the Uninstall Senturo section of the Knowledge Base for platform-specific instructions.
Q: Is there a limit to how many devices I can delete at once via CSV? A: There is no strict cap for typical fleet sizes, but very large imports may take longer to process. If you encounter issues with a particularly large file, split it into smaller batches and upload them sequentially.
